Posted by admin on July 4, 2017 under How to play.dav files in mac os x? A very common problem Mac users ave is playing Dahua Video (*.DAV) files. When you Mac tried to open DAV files in QuickTime on Mac by default, you’ll commonly receive an error message along the lines of ‘This is not a movie file’. Actually, QuickTime player doesn’t support the Dahua video (*.dav) files natively. This gets really annoying if you come across a DAV file and want to watch it on your Mac. Fortunately, there are a lot of options to help you play an DAV file in the Mac OS X (macOS Sierra, EI Capitan & Yosemite included). Why we can’t play DAV files on Mac?
DAV is an encrypted format created by a DVR365, standard media players won’t work for DAV files. An easy way to open and play DAV files on Windows PC, just use the official DVR365 Player software, it only works on windows pc. There is no dav player for Mac OS X.
That’s the reason why people usually feel frustrated when they try to play an Dahua video (*.dav) file in QuickTime. Here are the 2 solutions: Solution 1: Convert DAV in Mac OS X (macOS Sierra, EI Capitan & Yosemite included) If you have a lot of Dahua DAV files and want to play them on more players like the iPhone, iPad or iPod, you’d better convert the DAV to other formats like the MP4, MOV, M4V or etc. Here, I’ll recommend the UFUSoft (macOS Sierra, EI Capitan & Yosemite included), which enables you to convert an Dahua video (*.dav) to any popular video format for various players, devices and applications. For QuickTime, you can convert the DAV files to an MOV file that is associated with QuickTime on Macbook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Pro, Mac Mini, iMac. See more tips below. Free Download the: Step 1: Directly drag-and-drop the Dahua video (*.dav) files onto this program. Step 2: Choose an output format like iPod, iPad, iPhone, iPad or etc.
Step 3: Simply hit Convert at the bottom-right corner of its interface. Solution 2: UFUSoft I’ve just had my first play with some Dahua cameras and DVR.
When exporting video clips, they are exported in a proprietary Dahua.DAV movie format. VLC Player recognises it is some kind of H.264 movie and correctly reports it’s resolution, but cannot play the file. Fortunately the Dahua DVR also exports a copy of their player software for Windows.
