← Word for Mac I would like to have text highlighting (e.g. A little yellow box) available in the Quick Access Toolbar. This would let me keep the ribbons closed while reading, and thus provide more space for the text window. The Text Boxes I am accessing within VBA have been named: firstName, lastName etc. Within the Word document itself. However, I get the following error message when executing it on Word for Mac: Run-time error ‘5941’ The requested member.
Hi Austin, When you have a document open, on the document window left corner just under the Menu Bar are 3 buttons, red, yellow, and green. Parallel to these Window Control buttons in the top right corner of the document window is a control that looks like a pill. Click it and your toolbars will reappear. The button, we call the Apple Pill, controls the display of the tool bars. Hopefully, by correcting just one document window and then making a small change on the document itself to reset Word's save toggle switch and then saving, closing, quitting Word completely, then reopening Word. All will be right once again. If this fix doesn't stick then you'll need to reset your Normal template by making a change there and resaving it.

So no applications are running restart your computer and then use Finder to rename you Normal.dot template to oldNormal.dot, I think it will be a '.dot' in Word 2008 but it might also be 'dotm' even though macros weren't allowed in Office 2008. You'll find the template in this path: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/Normal.dot(m) The tilde '~' represents your home folder. Also go to your Documents folder and look for a folder called Microsoft User Data. If you find a Normal template in there, rename it as well.
Now start Word and see if it's fixed. If it's not you should go to the following Microsoft Users forum and request help. It's specific for Mac Word users. I hang out there and a bunch of others and I want to get them involved in helping you on this. Kind Regards, Rich. Maybe this picture will help.
Ignore the 'Grab' menu bar, that's what I used to get the screen capture. Finder is the app in your Dock that usually is the first one and is two faces looking at each other.
My dock bar is on the left, your's mayb at the bottom of the screen. Click the Finder (two faces) icon and a dialog like shown will open. Your Home tab is in the Places section and has a House for its icon. The name is your account name.
Click your account name and the folders under your account will display. Note my example is highlighting the Library folder. Also note in this same list is a folder labeled Documents. Both of these folders are mentioned in my previous post. Follow the directions I provided earlier moving down the path from Library to Application Support to. Etc and you will locate the Normal template.

Mar 8, 2015 I have been working on a Word document converted from a PDF. I use Word 2011 for Mac. The header contains the page numbers within a text box. The problem is that the page number is the same on several pages.
When I change it on one page, it changes to the same number on other pages, and when I remove the text box from one header it is removed from the other pages as well. I have tried making a section break and a page break, but the problem remains. I am thinking there should be a link of some sort that I am missing. I have checked my toolbar to see if there is a simple way of breaking the link, but can't find any. Any suggestions?
Trouble Mar 8, 2015 Hi Norskpro Just a few weeks ago I got myself into terrible trouble with an agency, because of a similar problem. The original document was a PDF, which they converted to Word for me, although the conversion was badly done. When I did the translation a lot of re-formatting was required and the text often flowed from one page to another in a different way from the original.
I was able to adjust things quite well in the end, except for the page numbers, which as in your case, were in a text box in a footer. I tried everything I could think of, and consulted various websites, in a desperate effort to get the page numbers to run sequentially through the document, but in the end I had no success and to meet my deadline, I had to send the document to the agency apologising for the page numbers. This got me into terrible trouble. This job was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. As a consequence, I resolved never to accept converted PDF documents again.
