GL Golf for Mac provides a realistic virtual golf experience by employing responsive physics and features such as water hazards. You're able to customize the appearance of your character as well as the environment, and you can choose from three difficulty levels.

While lacking online multiplayer, the game provides a global leaderboard. When launched, GL Golf for Mac presents you with its main settings screen. There you can choose the type of game, weather conditions, time of day, number of players, and difficulty, as well as customize the player's appearance and the clubs they will use. Through the game's menu you can also adjust the graphic details, but you won't be impressed, not even by the highest settings.

A nice touch is the support for retina displays and fullscreen mode, as well as iTunes playback controls. The gameplay, itself, is easy to pick up and enjoyable, mainly thanks to the decent game physics. After the game ends, your score is added to the global leaderboard. The biggest drawbacks of the game are the lack of ability to customize your keyboard controls and the fact there is no online multiplayer mode available. While it's not visually spectacular, GL Golf for Mac offers an enjoyable experience to golf fans. Features like different weather conditions, and random hole locations add replay value by keeping the game fresh and challenging. This is a premium app that comes with a demo version, which allows you to play six holes.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of GL Golf for Mac 2.440. GL Golf is a realistic 3D game for the casual gamer. With a realistic physics system and great simple graphics, you and up to four players can golf all 504 holes for countless hours. Everything in a real game of golf is included, such as water hazards, sand traps, trees, bushes, wind, four seasons, different time of days to play, and a driving range.

Other great features include both an internet and individual high score list, game saving, great music, iTunes controls, 3 difficulty modes, mulligans, the ability to choose your set of clubs, match/stroke play, and much more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hillbilly_Gal from Challenging, Mildly Addictive I enjoy trivia and this game is very good. They get pretty tricky! This game really tests your knowledge which I enjoy. I'm not a golfer so I don't really understand the terms in this game such as 'par,' 'shank,' 'hook' etc. But that's ok.

The main thing is to get as many answers to the trivia questions correct as you can. The more correct your answers the better golf shot you will get. Just aim the red arrow toward the hole, pick your club, answer the trivia question correctly and you have it made. If you don't answer it correctly that's ok, too. I enjoyed playing the free trial of this game. Rated 2 out of 5 by Sternum from Not Bad! Maybe it is just me.

I always loved the older games, being 38, I now feel old when I try newer games and am a bit unimpressed.! Saying that, THIS GAME IS FUN! I enjoy the golf element as I always have loved any golfing game, especially a simple crazy golf type or thereabouts. The thing with this, and many other games on this site is that they mix elements of other game styles into one game and I really don't know if I like it this way or not.

I would have been more happy to find that this game was a golf game, with a bit more skill element in the choosing and using of clubs, power of hit etc. Instead these are worked out by how well you answer a trivia question! This reduces the 'skill' in the golf part to luck! If you get a hard question you will fail to pot the ball, if you get an easy one and win it, you win! I don't like the gameplay all that much but I will say it is very nice interface, the game is relaxing and works well on my win 7 PC with not much ram OK. I will continue to play it but I probably won't be looking for any more trivia mixed with ********* games in future.

• If you need to pretend you're using a PC, choose 'Google Chrome — Windows' or 'Firefox — Windows'. Doing so should get you through the website's detection-checker. Of course, the page may still be using ancient codecs or plugins not supported by Safari — in which case, you might have to look into. There is no more gdmss for mac. Note: If your browser options are grayed out, you may still have the Preferences screen open — close it first! Still having trouble?
